Why tungsten carbide is the necessary material for wear - resistant valves

Time : 2022-07-28 Hits : 13

Valves are widely used in various industries, such as petroleum, petrochemical, chemical, mechanical, hydraulic, etc.. Especially the oil and gas, chemical industry are more harsh environment of the industry, pipeline valves and other equipment in the modern chemical industry plays an important role. Valve in the powder, particles and slurry and other transport pipelines face the challenge of harsh environment, often prone to valve pipeline wear loss efficiency problems. Therefore, we need to use a strong wear-resistant, strong corrosion-resistant material as the raw material of valve equipment, so that the valve life longer, carbide is not the second choice.

We choose sintered tungsten carbide as the material of the valve, it not only has high strength, the surface finish can also be high, and when paired with other materials, the friction coefficient is smaller than steel, which can significantly reduce the contact surface friction and effectively reduce the operating torque.

The Sintered tungsten carbide carbide is made from a mixture of tungsten and carbon heated at high temperature. Most tungsten carbide carbide has high hardness, is not easily decomposed at high temperature, and has good oxidation resistance.

In the valve valve and seat using sintered tungsten carbide carbide to form the sealing surface, the valve performance has the following obvious advantages.

1. High hardness. Hardness > 80HRC, can withstand the coal and water slurry, coal dust, silica dust and other multi-phase particles of the media at high speed.

2. High temperature resistance. Able to work for a long time in the high temperature of 750 ℃, strength, bonding and thermal expansion are not limited by the temperature, fully meet the coal chemical industry and other high-temperature working conditions.

3. High pressure resistance. The overall sintered tungsten carbide transverse fracture strength reaches 4000MPa, which is more than 10 times the strength of conventional steel.

4. Corrosion resistance. The chemical property of sintered tungsten carbide is stable, even if heated, it does not dissolve in water and does not work with hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, which is sufficient to meet the special requirements of coal chemical industry and other special industries for corrosion performance.

5. Wear resistance. The high hardness and high stability of sintered cemented carbide ensure the excellent anti-wear performance of the sealing sub-material.

6. Resistant to erosion.
In general, the sintered tungsten carbide with high strength, high hardness, high melting point, high stability, low friction coefficient, wear resistance, resistance to erosion and vapor corrosion, corrosion resistance, manufacturing for the severe working conditions of wear-resistant valve seals, can greatly improve the applicability of the valve, expand the scope of use of the valve, extend the working life of the valve.
